who we are and what we do...

hi i’m aaron tokarz and along with my wonderful wife and business partner philan, we make up white shutter photography. besides photographers, we are also marketing, research and development, post production, web design, graphic design, the list goes on... we strive to make your wedding or photography session our top priority and we consider it an honor when our lives cross paths with yours.

we are not only photographers, but we are artists. we bring creativity, an open mind, a journalistic perspective, and an unwavering attention to detail to every photography session and i appreciate the opportunity to share my work with you. we are there to capture the true meaning of your event, all the joy, the chaos, the fun and the overall excitement that makes your day so beautiful.

i have been shooting for over 20 years, specializing in people and details. my goal is to capture the subtle and unscripted moments of you day as it unfolds. all the details of your wedding or event as they come together and create a narrative.

our blog is updated after every photo session and will keep you up to date on what we are doing. there are pages and pages of past blog entries so be sure to dig around.

thanks for checking us out and we look forward to hearing from you.

vander heyden family

we planned an outdoor winter family portrait session with the vander heyden family way in advance. little did we know, however, that we would be getting dumped on with snow during our session. the snow just kept falling and falling and falling… they kept playing and we kept shooting. there were so many great pictures to choose from it was very difficult to narrow it down to a few for the blog.

ashlei - these are so cute! love the last one!

kimberlee & brett

ok… ok… okay… we finally got it blogged!!! we first photographed kimberlee and brett a year ago for their engagement session. i knew right then that their wedding would be one to remember. it was amazing and so were they. kimberlee and her girls started the day off at galleria hair studio before heading to st anthony of padua church. their ceremony was elegant and very moving as kimberlee’s daughter sang in front of a packed church. from there we stopped at the brewhouse building for some fun pictures and then to franchesco’s ristorante for their reception. kimberlee and brett’s first dance was one to remember. the rest of the night was full of dancing and laughter. we really enjoyed their wedding night, and cannot wait to shoot their family for years to come.

congratulations to liz foley who won this month’s shoot with white shutter photography contest. for winning this month’s contest, liz wins a $10 starbuck’s gift card from white shutter photography. liz is owner of liz foley photography. about her photo, liz says “This was taken at a nearby farm, a client’s little boy who loves everything Farm: trucks, tractors, loaders, etc. We saw this treasure hidden in a shed and I just had to shoot the bright orange truck! Natural light, F5.3, 1/15, 400 ISO. Did some post processing on PS to give it that Technicolor effect.”

i will send a message out to everyone as soon as i receive next month’s theme from liz. and remember, if you are a photographer at any skill level, come and join our facebook group, it is a lot of fun. here’s liz’s winning image…

danielle & tim

what a couple.  what a couple of troopers.  danielle and tim live in texas and are getting married this summer here in illinois.  well, they were in town visiting family and friends over the holidays and we managed to sneak in an engagement session.  this was our first time meeting in person, so after a few minutes of getting aquatinted, we were off and running.  we started outside in the frigid midwest air, and then headed inside to have some fun.  we accomplished that and have this to show off to you…enjoy.
