WPPI

wedding & portrait photographers international (wppi) is an organization that supports photographers worldwide. we are proud to be members of this organization and greatly value their training and leadership in the world of professional photography.

last week, philan and i attended the 30th annual wppi conference at the mgm grand in las vegas.  on saturday, we dropped off the older kids with grandparents and took colden brig on his first vacation. some of the instructors we learned from throughout the week were kirk voclain, jerry ghionis, jasmine star, kevin kubota, and justin & mary. we also spent a lot of time watching and listening to the 16×20 print competition which really opened my eyes on composition and lighting.  the trade show was spectacular.  we hooked up with two new amazing album vendors (both of which we are the exclusive studio showcasing their albums in the rockford area), a fine art paper company, a custom frame company, and spent too much time at the nikon booth.  we got to play around with nikon’s newest D-SLR, the D3s, along with the 85 mm f/1.4 portrait lens, and everything else they have in their arsenal.  unfortunately, the weather was a bit grim and we were in classes all day, so we only got out onto the strip on wednesday afternoon.

so we are back and working our butts off to bring you some new and exciting changes to white shutter.  keep informed, stay up to date, subscribe to our blog and give us some feedback… we’d love to hear what you’re thinking.

Kimberlee Beaman - You guys never cease to amaze me. Something as simple as a conference and you still take AMAZING pictures!!! :-)

anna & ryan

i met up with anna and ryan in chicago a few weeks ago to shoot their engagement pictures.  i absolutely love shooting in a big city.  the backgrounds are always amazing and the public buildings are magnificent.  anna and ryan chose the chicago cultural center i was delighted.  the chicago cultural center is the old chicago library and it is a beautiful building.  we spent a few hours in the cultural center and then headed to an alley across the street.  anna and ryan have a great connection and they scream fun.  i can’t wait to their wedding this summer in milwaukee on the banks of lake michigan.  here are a few from their engagement session.

caitlin & matt

with a new years eve wedding planned, we were guaranteed two things… frigid cold weather and a great party. we started our day with caitlin and matt at st peter’s cathedral. from there we made a few cold stops around rockford, including the riverfront, downtown, and a laundromat. eventually, we ended up at giovanni’s for dinner. after an intimate reception, we joined the masses for a new years eve party. what a way to ring in the new year… we even managed to catch the newlywed’s midnight kiss…

vander heyden family

we planned an outdoor winter family portrait session with the vander heyden family way in advance. little did we know, however, that we would be getting dumped on with snow during our session. the snow just kept falling and falling and falling… they kept playing and we kept shooting. there were so many great pictures to choose from it was very difficult to narrow it down to a few for the blog.

ashlei - these are so cute! love the last one!
